Sao Mai Vietnamese school in Berlin marks 10th anniversary

Sao Mai Vietnamese school on September 25th opened the new school year and marked the 10th anniversary of its establishment in the Pacific Trade Centre in Berlin.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoang Lien, Rector of the school, reviewed the development process of the school over the past ten years.

According to Ms. Lien, with the efforts and love of the teachers, enthusiasm of parents and students, particularly the help and financial support of Ms. Trinh Thi Mui, founder of the school and other donors, the school has been teaching Vietnamese language to hundreds of students, contributing to preserving Vietnamese language in the second and third generations of Vietnamese people in Germany.

Besides studying Vietnamese language, the students are also taught dancing and singing, fun activities which attract them to go to school and perform in activities for the overseas Vietnamese community in many places, contributing to spreading Vietnamese culture to German friends.

While Ms. Trinh Thi Mui, who had the initiative to establish the Sao Mai Vietnamese school and create facilities for the school, committed to continuing to support the school to maintain Vietnamese language teaching.

First Secretary of the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany Duong Thi Viet Thang appreciated the Vietnamese teaching of the Sao Mai Vietnamese School. Moreover, the students of the school are not only learned Vietnamese language, but also learned art to maintain the national culture.

She also affirmed that the Embassy would join hands with the teachers in teaching Vietnamese language for overseas Vietnamese children, and hoped that the teachers and students’ parents will wholeheartedly support the school.

Currently, the education unit regularly maintains four Vietnamese classes for about 60 students./.
