Speaking at the event, Ms. Ton Thi Ngoc Huong, Vietnam’s Chargé d'affaires in Malaysia, emphasized that the holidays were an opportunity for all Vietnamese people, including the Vietnamese community in Malaysia, to review and commemorate the immense contributions of their ancestors in the journey of building and defending the country.

She hoped that in the coming time, the Vietnamese community in Malaysia would continue to show their affection towards the homeland, strengthen solidarity and mutual support, contributing to building a stronger community in Malaysia.

According to the Community Liaison Committee, over the past time, the overseas Vietnamese community in Malaysia has reached many commendable achievements, especially in support for disadvantaged or unlucky people, raising funds to support domestic people affected by natural calamities, and support people and soldiers in border areas and islands.

In the framework of the event, a singing contest was organized and attracted a large number of overseas Vietnamese from many localities in Malaysia.

In addition, over MYR2,000 was raised to support a plan for building a multi-purpose house on Truong Sa island.

Moreover, Vietnamese women, especially Vietnamese brides getting married to Malaysian husbands, were also arranged by the Vietnamese Embassy to meet and exchange their opinions with two Malaysian lawyers on the issues they care about./.
