This annual activity of the Prague Vietnamese Language Centre (under the Overseas Vietnamese Branch in Prague) helps young people read and write their mother tongue fluently, as well as enhance their understanding of the history and culture of the nation.

Speaking at the event, Ms. Tran Thanh Huong, chargé d'affaires of Vietnam to the Czech Republic, highly appreciated the effort of the Prague Vietnamese Language Centre in teaching and preserving the national cultural identity.

Mr. Nguyen Van Son, Director of the Prague Vietnamese Language Centre, said that, thanks to the support of the embassy, sponsors, teachers and parents, summer Vietnamese classes have been maintained over many years and continue to be expanded.

He said that the centre would make efforts to improve the teaching methods and quality of teaching and learning.

Deputy Chairman cum Secretary General of the Overseas Vietnamese Association in the Czech Republic Vu Nam called upon the community to join hands in inspiring the young generation to learn the mother tongue from their families.

Prague Vietnamese Language Centre, former Sapa Vietnamese Language Centre, was established 16 years ago. Apart from summer classes, the centre also maintains three regular Vietnamese classes on weekends.

So far, thousands of overseas Vietnamese children have been taught Vietnamese language there./.
