This is an opportunity for Vietnamese people to meet, exchange and preserve the traditional culture for younger generations.

The event, which was organized at the oldest fire station in New South Wales, attracted more than 40 families, including 150 people. The station was decorated with lovely lanterns and umbrellas to create an oriental atmosphere and help overseas Vietnamese feel close and familiar.

Mr. Luong Van Quang, a member of the organizing board, said that the event aimed to help children understand more about the Festival and remember their origin in Vietnam.

During the festival, the children were guided how to make flowers from bulbs and fruits, how to make a lantern, how to make moon cakes and listened to songs about the Mid-Autumn Festival.

The Mid-Autumn Festival was also the first meeting of the Vietnamese Parent Association since it was established on Facebook 19 months ago. The association has attracted 4,000 members across Australia, Vietnam and other countries.

Initially, the association aims to gather Vietnamese parents to share their lives, how to educate their children well and share old songs, which have strong attachments with many generations of Vietnamese people. However, through the Mid-Autumn Festival, the close attachment is the subconscious demand of the overseas Vietnamese community, because it helped them feel warm and familiar./.
