Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Monument inaugurated in Koh Kong province

The Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Monument in Khemara Phoumin city, Koh Kong province, Cambodia, was inaugurated on October 16th.

Speaking at the ceremony, Secretary of State for the Minister of Cults and Religion and General Secretary of the National Council of the Solidarity Front for the Development of the Cambodian Motherland Nhem Valy affirmed that the implementation of this project is a practical activity to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries; and continue to consolidate and nurture the traditional friendship between the two peoples.

He asserted that the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Monument is not only a work to remember the merits of patriotic Cambodian people and Vietnamese volunteer soldiers, who sacrificed themselves for the cause of Cambodian liberation, but it is also the permanent symbol of the friendship and solidarity between the two countries of Vietnam and Cambodia.

Speaking at the ceremony, Colonel Nguyen Anh Dung believed that the monument in Koh Kong province would be a witness to the great development of Koh Kong province in the coming time and the traditional friendly relationship, an invaluable asset of the two nations, peoples and armies of the two countries.

This is the 9th such monument, which has been restored and embellished under the project of restoration and embellishment of 17 friendship monuments throughout Cambodia funded by Vietnam’s Ministry of National Defence. This activity is part of the program to mark the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Cambodia diplomatic relations in 2017./.
