Vietnam co-hosts charity sports event in Cambodia

The event “Charity Fun Walk” was co-hosted by the Embassies of Vietnam and Indonesia, Cambodia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, at Phnom Penh town hall in Koh Pich island, Phnom Penh, Cambodia on May 21st.

This is the beginning activity in a series of activities celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (August 8th) in the country.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Christopher Montero, Ambassador of the Philippines, which holds the rotating ASEAN Chairmanship in 2017, affirmed that the event showed the spirit of solidarity and created motivation for member countries in implement common targets for a peaceful, stable and prosperous ASEAN Community.

All proceeds will be presented to Kantha Bopha Children's Hospital, which provides free treatment for Cambodian children.

After a walk of about 1.6km at the center of Koh Pich island, ASEAN citizens and Cambodian people attending the event together raised funds and enjoyed the traditional dishes of ASEAN countries prepared by the staff of embassies of countries participating in the event./.
