Ambassador Ngo Huong Nam attended the ceremony during his stay in Vanuatu to submit his credentials to Vanuatu’s President.

The House is built on a 1,000 sqm area, which was a farm where many Vietnamese people worked in indentured servitude from colonial times. It, expected to be inaugurated in 2019, will become a place for community activities and Vietnamese language teaching for the overseas Vietnamese community there.

Previously, during a meeting with the overseas Vietnamese community in Vanuatu, Mr Nam desired the community to strengthen solidarity, maintain and develop the Vietnamese characters. In the short term, it is necessary to complete the Friendship House as a common house of the overseas Vietnamese people and promote a project on building a Vietnamese pagoda and Vietnamese language teaching for young Vietnamese people.

The 300-member overseas Vietnamese community in Vanuatu has created a solid foothold, positively contributing to the economic development of the national island and as a bridge for bilateral friendship between the two nations. Most of them work in the field of construction, trade and farm. Many people have become successful businessmen, creating hundreds of jobs for local people and being highly appreciated by local leaders./.
