Speaking at the event, Mr. Sadik Ayhan Saruhan, a leader from ICI, said that Vietnam is a potential market where ICI member businesses need to expand to exploit and strengthen investment and business. He also hoped that the event will help businesses to have opportunities to seek and strengthen exchange to understand more about the country and business environment in Vietnam.
Ambassador Pham Anh Tuan highly appreciated the initiative and cooperation between ICI and the Vietnamese embassy in order to create a forum for Turkish businesses to discover business and investment opportunities in Vietnam.
He stressed Vietnam’s outstanding economic achievements in recent years, such as sustainable and high growth rate. Besides, Vietnam has conducted negotiations and signed Free Trade Agreements with many partners, such as FTAs with the European Union and the Republic of Korea, and the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
The establishment of the ASEAN Economic Community with 620 million people and GDP of USD2,700 billion has opened great potential. Turkey becomes a dialogue partner of ASEAN, helping to enhance the relationship and boost economic cooperation opportunity between Turkey and ASEAN in particular.
The ambassador said that the above advantages show that Vietnam is a very attractive destination for foreign investors, and desired that Turkish businesses would quickly grasp opportunities and intensify investment in the fields Turkey has strengths, such as infrastructure, sustainable agriculture, clean energy, tourism and healthcare.
Mr. Pham Anh Tuan also wanted to receive the attention and active participation of Turkish businesses in economic and trade events organized by the Vietnamese Embassy in 2018, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
During the seminar, the businesses listened to three presentations about Vietnam. The updated information, data and practical experiences helped the delegates gain a more complete understanding of Vietnam as a potential economic partner for investment and trade cooperation.
Moreover, Turkish businesses also expressed their attention and satisfaction with the information about Vietnam’s preferential policies for foreign investors, fields Vietnamese businesses are interested in and notices for foreign investors when investing in Vietnam.
At the event, the Vietnamese Embassy displayed economic publications, which were highly appreciated by Turkish businesses.
During the working visit to Istanbul, Ambassador Pham Anh Tuan met with Mr. Ali Tezolmez, Chairman of the Turkey - Vietnam Business Council, and members of the executive committee of the council.
The two sides exchanged about coordination to organize activities to mark the 40th anniversary of Vietnam - Turkey relations as well as problems, which should be resolved to create conditions for the Turkey - Vietnam Business Council and its member businesses to strengthen their activities in Vietnam in the coming time./.
