Vietnam’s cultural promoted in Mexico

School of Linguistics and Translation under the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and the Vietnamese Embassy in Mexico recently organized a Day of Vietnamese Language, Cuisine and Film Screening, to introduce Vietnamese culture to students and lecturers.

At the Vietnamese class, First Secretary of the Vietnamese Embassy Lam Quoc Thanh provided a general description of the origin, foundation and development of the Vietnamese language.

Nearly 50 students at the class learn to spell and got acquainted with the alphabet, sounds and accents of Vietnamese language, as well as simple greetings and communication.

The students are very excited to familiarize themselves with a new language and expressed their desire to have more Vietnamese classes.

Head of the Faculty of Russian, Asian and Modern Greek Languages Ricardo Cornejo said that the school will research to put Vietnamese language into teaching in the future, meeting the students’ aspirations of learning about Vietnamese language and culture.

Meanwhile, international and Mexican students were also introduced to rice paper, a specialty of wet rice culture and shrimp spring roll. With excitement, the students made and enjoyed their rolls by themselves.

On this occasion, the students and lecturers also learned about the specific culture of H’Mong ethnic group, one of 54 Vietnamese ethnic groups, through film “Pao’s story” directed by Ngo Quang Hai.

The event is in the framework of the Vietnam Week organized by UNAM, including various activities such as conference, seminar, photo exhibition and introduction of Vietnamese culture./.
