Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Alain Vu Duc Hoang Mi, Chairman of the association, said that "Vietnam’s flavour - Europe" is a non-profit association, and officially established on April 16th, 2016.

The purpose of the association is to maintain and preserve the traditional cultural beauty of the nation among the Vietnamese community in France, introduce and promote this beauty to French friends and European countries through a variety of activities such as performing arts and traditional long dresses, introducing landscapes, organizing cultural and food festivals. In addition, the association also wants to participate in support and charity projects in Vietnam.

Mr. Alain Vu Duc Hoang Mi also said that in nearly a year since its founding, the association has organized and participated in many activities promoting Vietnam’s culture, food and tourism to the Vietnamese community in France, French friends and some European countries such as Germany, the United Kingdom, Belgium, and the Czech Republic.

In the coming time, the association intends to organize three seasonal festivals annually; themed "Spring Flavour" at the beginning of the year; "Summer Sun" in the middle of the year and "Autumn Melody" at the end of the year. At present, the association is selecting candidates for the contest "Miss Universe Vietnam" held in April in the UK and participate in the project on Cultural Festivals of European peoples.

On behalf of the Vietnamese Embassy in France, Mr. Do Duc Thanh, Counsellor in charge of community affairs at the Vietnamese Embassy in France, congratulated the association. He highly appreciated the association's desire to partner with other associations in France to jointly organize cultural events, thereby enhancing the strength and cohesion of the community, promoting the advantages of the overseas Vietnamese community in France and Europe.

At the ceremony, a traditional long dress performance by designer Tran Duoc and art performance were also organized. The participants also enjoyed Vietnamese dishes at the event./.
