Vietnam’s traditional Lunar New Year Festival organized in Mongolia

The Vietnamese Embassy in Mongolia organized an event to celebrate the traditional Lunar New Year Festival (Tet) of the Pig for the Vietnamese community in Ulan Bator on January 21st.

The event was attended by representatives of Mongolia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassadors and spouses of Laos and Cuba and President of the Mongolia - Vietnam Friendship Association.              

Professor Dashtsevel, President of the Mongolia - Vietnam Friendship Association, highly appreciated the effort of the Vietnamese Embassy and community in Mongolia in contributing to building and strengthening the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Mongolia, especially economic and cultural cooperation.

He said that Vietnam’s traditional Tet has many unique features. The organization of Tet for the Vietnamese community not only helps them be more united, but also contributes to promoting and introducing Vietnamese culture to the local people. On this occasion, Professor Dashtsevel sent best New Year wishes to the Government and people of Vietnam.

Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Mongolia Doan Thi Huong reviewed Vietnam’s socio-economic achievements in 2018 and highlighted the significance of the traditional Tet.

Recognizing the positive contributions of the Vietnamese community in Mongolia to the homeland, the ambassador hoped that the Vietnamese community in Mongolia would continue to promote the spirit of solidarity, preservation the national identity and help each other to develop.

2019 celebrates the 65th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - Mongolia diplomatic relations, which is a major event. The Vietnamese Embassy will organize "Vietnam Cultural Week in Mongolia" and she suggested that each Vietnamese person in Mongolia contribute their effort to make the event successful.

On the occasion, the ambassador wished the Vietnamese community in Mongolia to be happy and prosperous.

The Vietnamese community in Mongolia has nearly 500 people, mostly living in Ulan Bator.

At the event, the participants enjoyed songs about spring and the homeland performed by Vietnamese students in Mongolia and children of Lao and Cuban ambassadors./.
