Vietnamese Ambassador to China meets mayor of Chong Qing city

In the framework of a working visit to Chong Qing, Vietnamese Ambassador to China Dang Minh Khoi and an interdisciplinary working delegation of Vietnam had a working session with Mayor of Chong Qing city Tang Liang Zhi on May 9th.

At the meeting, Ambassador Khoi stressed that the relations between the two Parties and two countries over the past time have developed in all fields. High-ranking exchanges and meetings have taken place regularly, and the cooperation among ministries, sectors and localities of the two countries have been strengthened.

The ambassador said that Vietnam had appointed an interdisciplinary working delegation and representatives of over 30 businesses to work with Chong Qing city to attach much importance to the cooperation with Chong Qing, as well as other localities in Southwestern China.

He also mentioned specific proposals to further promote the relations between Chong Qing city and Vietnam’s localities; facilitating business cooperation, especially logistics cooperation and related procedures, to exploit the potential for multimodal transport.

Mr. Dang Minh Khoi welcomed businesses of Chong Qing city to invest in Vietnam, especially projects of high technology, environment protection, paying attention to interests of employees and community activities.   

He proposed the Chong Qing administration to create conditions for Vietnam’s strong products such as agriculture, pork, milk, handicraft, which are widely consumed in Chong Qing city.

Mayor Tang Liang Zhi introduced the position, socio-economic development situation, as well as the central role of Chong Qing city in Southwestern China. He said that his city has had economic, trade, technique, education and tourism cooperation with Vietnam’s ministries, sectors and localities such as Quang Ninh, Lang Son and Cao Bang provinces. Many businesses in Chong Qing city have invested and done businesses in Vietnam.

The mayor suggested that in the coming time the two sides should research opening a railway connection between Chong Qing city, Vietnam and ASEAN countries and vice versa. Thanks to that, Vietnam can shorten time to export goods to West Asian and European countries.

Previously, the Ambassador attended a seminar on strengthening economic, trade and logistics cooperation between Vietnam and China, held on May 8th in Chong Qing city./.
