The activity aims to mark the 128th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh.

The memorial site is located in the campus of former “Käthe-Kollwitz-Heim” school, which was called Moritzburg school. It was built right after Uncle Ho visited the school 61 years ago.

Ambassador Doan Xuan Hung reviewed moving stories of President Ho Chi Minh during his first official visit to Germany in 1957. On this occasion, in spite of a heavy working schedule, President Ho Chi Minh still spent time to visit Käthe-Kollwitz-Heim school, where many excellent Vietnamese students were sent to study since 1955. President Ho Chi Minh talked with and encouraged the students to try to study to contribute to the construction of the nation.

The ambassador stressed that sending the excellent Vietnamese students to Germany showed the great attention of the Party and Vietnamese Government, especially President Ho Chi Minh, to train the young generation, the future generation of the country, as well as build good relations between Vietnam and Germany.

He hoped that the memorial site will be a destination for the overseas Vietnamese community and German friends. Therefore, they will see the hallmarks of the friendship between the two countries President Ho Chi Minh fostered.

In 2015, Mr. Vo Van Long, General Director of Thang Long Company in Germany, restored the memorial site.

For the overseas Vietnamese community in Germany, this was not only a significant act, but also showed love and respect for the leader of the nation and further deepened the sustainable symbol for the friendship between the peoples of the two countries./.
