Vietnamese Ambassador to Ukraine pays working visit to Odessa province

Vietnamese Ambassador to Ukraine Nguyen Anh Tuan recently had a working visit to Odessa province, which is his first working visit to the Ukraine locality since he began his mission in Kiev.

In the framework of the working visit, the ambassador had working sessions with Governor of Odessa province Maksym Stepanov, Acting Mayor of Odessa city Orlovskiy Antoliy, and Director of Odessa Migration Department Elena Pogrebnyak.

Ambassador Nguyen Anh Tuan affirmed that Vietnam has always attached much importance to the traditional friendship with Ukraine and hoped to strengthen and develop the relationship in all channels of States, National Assemblies, Governments and localities of the two countries.

He highly appreciated the position and role of Odessa in Ukraine’s economy and believed that with its potential and strengths in many fields, Odessa will further develop firmly, creating more cooperation opportunities with partners, including Vietnam’s localities.

The diplomat also proposed the leaders of the province, city and authority agencies of Odessa continue to create favourable conditions for the overseas Vietnamese community to have sustainable life, and soon solve problems relating to procedures to grant long-term residence card so that overseas Vietnamese feel secure to work and better integrate into the local society.

Governor of Odessa province Maksym Stepanov and Acting Mayor of Odessa city Orlovskiy Antoliy were touched that the ambassador chose Odessa to be the first destination to visit in his term. Mr. Setpanov affirmed that Odessa has potential and advantages so Vietnamese businesses can invest, cooperate and will research agreements and projects the province has signed with Vietnam’s localities to promote and seek a new way in the coming time.

The leaders of Odessa province said that the overseas Vietnamese community is an integral part of the multinational community in Odessa. The community has many common contributions to the city and is a bridge to strengthen the relationship between the two countries.

He and authority agencies of Odessa promised that they will cooperate with the central administration to solve problems relating to legal procedures for overseas Vietnamese to create favourable conditions for them to develop sustainably.

Ambassador Tuan also invited the Governor, Acting Mayor and representatives of departments and sectors of Odessa to attend the program to welcome the Lunar New Year of the Dog, organized by the Vietnamese Embassy and executive board of the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Odessa.

During the working visit to Odessa, he also worked with the Party Committee and executive board of the Overseas Vietnamese Association, and representatives of organizations and overseas Vietnamese in the province.

The ambassador listened to reports about the organization structure, situation of the community and desire of overseas Vietnamese.

He highly appreciated the organization of the Party Committee and executive board of the association, and active participation of the association in activities launched by the embassy. The Ambassador asked the Party Committee and executive board to continue to mobilize overseas Vietnamese to participate in building the community, especially the second generation.

In addition, Mr. Tuan also visited the market “km 7”, one of the largest business centres in Ukraine and Eastern Europe. The market was officially put into operation in 1989. There are about 200,000 traders from 28 nations, of whom Vietnamese traders are the second largest number after Chinese.

Moreover, he also paid a visit to Interprice business, which specializes in producing cooking oil with closed production and package line to provide standardized and qualified products for the domestic market and export to key markets, especially China./.
