Writer Nguyen Nhat Anh is famous among the local audience with many works that are popular with young people such as “Xin cho tôi một vé đi tuổi thơ” (Ticket to childhood), “Tôi thấy hoa vàng trên cỏ xanh” (I saw the yellow flowers on the green grass) and “Cô gái đến từ hôm qua” (The girl from yesterday). However, for overseas Vietnamese, they don’t have many conditions to approach, understand, even possess of his memorable works.
For the first time, the Youth Publishing House simultaneously introduced the latest work by writer Nguyen Nhat Anh “Cảm ơn người lớn” (Thank you to adults) in many countries around the world, including the Czech Republic, to help his works be closer to overseas Vietnamese, as well as grasp the taste of reading culture of Vietnamese people abroad.
“Cảm ơn người lớn” includes many short stories with different themes on life, love, marriage, family happiness, neighbourly love and support when meeting misfortunes.
Children and adults are still main characters of the work, but the attractiveness is that problems are dealt with by adults in a child's outlook. The way the author poses and solves the problem is gentle, often witty with use of simple, understandable words, which makes the work more accessible to readers, especially children, who live in a healthy, friendly and kind world.
On this occasion, the Publishing House also introduced many kinds of books which are mainly for children such as Vietnamese fairy tales, Vietnamese history, folk games and making acquaintance of Vietnamese language.
As the ceremony took place, leaders of the Publishing House received a lot of ideas from leaders of associations, parents and teachers about how children are born and raised in foreign countries, including the Czech Republic, to have books that are suitable with their age, culture, and lifestyle in foreign countries.
According to Mr. Duong Thanh Truyen, this program found a way to help Vietnamese books approach overseas Vietnamese. He also added that meeting overseas Vietnamese children’s demand of Vietnamese books is essential.
After the event, the Youth Publishing House will make plans to collaborate with authors and teachers to teach Vietnamese language for children to create series of books to help children to learn and preserve Vietnamese language but be suitable with the cultural background in foreign countries.
These are documents to support teachers and parents to help their children preserve Vietnamese cultural identity during the process of integration into their local countries./.
