Vietnamese businesses attend 6th India International Silk Fair

This is a specialized fair for silk apparel and home furnishings organized by the Indian Silk Export Promotion Council, under the auspices of the Ministry of Textiles and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of India.

The fair attracted the participation of 120 leading silk producers of India and 250 businesses from places around the world, such as Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Denmark, Portugal, Sweden, the US, Africa, South Asia, Southeast Asia, Japan, the Republic of Korea and Vietnam.

Besides displaying and introducing products including silk fibers, all kinds of fibers, silk fabrics, accessories, towels, silk carpets, silk interior decorations, clothes, etc., meetings between businesses to exchange trade, between sellers and buyers, fashion shows and seminars are also organized during the fair.

As many as 21 Vietnamese businesses from the Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group, Investment - Trade Promotion Centre and localities of Hanoi, Tuyen Quang and Lang Son participated in the fair in order to expand the market, seek partners, as well as consider it as a good opportunity to exchange experience and learn about new techniques and technology.

The fair will end on October 18th and is expected to attract about 10,000 visitors and create revenue of over USD20 million for small-and medium sized enterprises in fields of silk, silk garment, cloth, accessories and carpet.

India is the 2nd largest silk producer in the world. The silk industry of the country is reliant on agriculture and has created about 8 million artisans and weavers in rural areas and jobs for tens of millions of households./.
