At the meeting, the Ambassador reported the country's situation, new policies and decisions, especially relating to investment and business of overseas Vietnamese in the homeland.

He also affirmed that the Vietnam-Australia bilateral relationship is growing rapidly, especially in preparation for the 45th anniversary of the diplomatic ties between the two countries in 2018.

The diplomat said that in the coming time, the Vietnamese Embassy will focus on promoting the bilateral relations to a new level; promote economic diplomacy, especially focusing on economic exchanges, import and export, and investment between the two countries in the specific fields.

Mr Nam said that after dragon fruit, the Vietnamese Embassy will work with the Australian Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources to open the door for Vietnam’s longan fruit and whole fresh shrimp.

He desired that VBAA continues to be a bridge to promote economic exchange between the two countries and an information channel for businesses of the two countries to consult when promoting specific projects.

In addition, VBAA also needs to expand and develop its chapters in Australia's states and territories.

VBAA Chairman Tran Ba Phuc said that since its founding in 2010, VBAA has always been the bridge linking businesses in Australia with the country, supporting and introducing Vietnam’s products to the Australian market.

He promised that the association will continue to further promote its role, while expanding and establishing its branches in Perth (Western Australia); Sydney (New South Wales) and the capital Canberra. He particularly applauded the success of the Vietnam Dragon Fruit Day event in Melbourne.

The Chairman said that the Australian market for dragon fruit is not great, but the fact of Vietnam's third fruit being imported in this market shows that Vietnam's agricultural products have reached a high standard, opening the door to export fruits to other "choosy" markets in the world, and proves that Vietnam’s agricultural products are competitive enough.

Mr. Phuc hoped that more fruits of Vietnam will be exported to Australia in the future, helping to increase output and export turnover of agricultural products.

He said that in the coming time, the association will co-ordinate with the relevant agencies to organize an exhibition to introduce Vietnamese goods in Australia on the occasion of the visit of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc to Australia to attend the ASEAN – Australia Summit in March 2018./.
