After more than three weeks of publishing information about Vietnamese class opening, 35 children have registered to study. They are divided into two classes based on their Vietnamese ability. The first class includes children aged 2-7 years and the second one is for children aged 7-12. The classes will last for 30 consecutive weeks, held every Sunday from April to November.

The classes are taught by three main teachers and seven teaching assistants from the Executive Board of the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Daejeon city. They are all volunteers.

"Currently I am a Vietnamese lecturer for Korean people at a university in RoK and I was introduced to teach Vietnamese language for children of multicultural families by members of the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Daejeon city. I find this is a practical and significant program. I will do my best to help the children understand more about their mother tongue and the cultural identity of Vietnam," said Ms. Chau Thuy Trang, one of the three main teachers.

"It is difficult to maintain these class, however, the opening ceremony showed some initial success. With the hope of maintaining Vietnamese language and culture, I expect that in the coming time, we will continue to receive more attention and support from Vietnamese agencies and donors so that such classes will be multiplied in other parts of RoK," said Mr. Vu Duc Luong, Head of the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Daejeon city./.
