Vietnamese community in Belgium meets early in year of the rooster

The General Association of Overseas Vietnamese in Belgium and the Belgian-Vietnamese Alliance on February 11th organized a program in Woluwe-Saint-Pierre district, Brussels, to welcome the spring of the rooster for overseas Vietnamese living, working and studying in the country.

At the ceremony, Mr. Huynh Cong My, Head of the General Association of Overseas Vietnamese in Belgium, wished all overseas Vietnamese a happy new year and added that this is an opportunity for them to meet and express solidarity, spread the culture of Vietnam, creating common strength and help them integrate into the local life while maintaining the core features of Vietnamese culture and values.

He said the Vietnamese community in Belgium has close relations with administration authorities at the local and national levels.

Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Belgium Vuong Thua Phong appreciated the General Association of Overseas Vietnamese in Belgium for organizing the significant event.

Over the past year, though Belgium met various difficulties, overseas Vietnamese there are still stable, maintain solidarity and look toward the homeland, actively responding to activities to raise funds supporting domestic people facing disaster and flood.

At the event, overseas Vietnamese enjoy art items performed by overseas Vietnamese children and professional artists from the Ho Chi Minh city Department of Culture and Sports.

In addition, a spring fair was also held with kiosks displaying five-fruit trays, as well as selling specific dishes of Northern, Central and Southern regions, and traditional souvenirs. The fair attracted a large number of participants./.
