Vietnamese community in Belgium welcomes Lunar New Year of Pig

An event was recently organized for the Vietnamese community in Belgium to welcome the Lunar New Year of the Pig 2019 in Woluwe-Saint-Pierre district, Brussels city, Belgium.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Huynh Cong My, President of the General Association of Overseas Vietnamese in Belgium, hoped that overseas Vietnamese in Belgium will continue to be united to preserve and spread Vietnamese culture, creating a common strength to protect the interest of the Vietnamese community in the country and creating favourable conditions for about 14,000 people to integrate into the local society but still preserve the cultural identity and good customs of Vietnamese people.  

Vietnamese Ambassador to Belgium Vu Anh Quang wished the overseas Vietnamese a lucky and happy new year, and confirmed that Vietnam’s consistent policy always considers overseas Vietnamese as an integral part of the nation. He emphasized that one of the main tasks of the Vietnamese Embassy in Belgium is to help overseas people integrate well into the host society, preserve the national cultural traditions and look toward the homeland.

Ms. Fadila Laanan, Cultural Minister of French-speaking Community, shared that she was very pleased to attend the event welcoming the Lunar New Year of the Vietnamese community in Belgium.

During the event, participants had an opportunity to enjoy a traditional art program performed by artists from Ho Chi Minh City with national music instruments./.
