Vietnamese community in China’s Macau celebrates Lunar New Year of Pig 2019

The Vietnamese Mutual Support Fellow-Countrymen Association in Macau organized a meeting to welcome the Lunar New Year of the Pig (Tet) in the Macau Special Administrative Region, China, on January 13th.

Speaking at the meeting, Tran Thi Thu, chairwoman of the association, said that every year, as allowed by the Consulate General of Vietnam in Hong Kong and Macau, the Vietnamese Mutual Support Fellow-Countrymen Association in Macau organizes an event for the Vietnamese community in Macau to welcome Tet.

She emphasized that the meeting aims to create an opportunity for overseas Vietnamese in Macau to meet, share happiness and sadness in life, together welcoming traditional Tet of Vietnam and reminding them to look toward the homeland.   

During the meeting, the participants enjoyed an art program performed by overseas Vietnamese and traditional dishes on the occasion of Tet of Vietnam.

China’s Macau Special Administrative Region now has over 20,000 Vietnamese labourers, with incomes of USD500 - 1,000 per month.

The Vietnamese employee community in Macau was highly appreciated by local leaders for working spirit and compliance with the local law./.
