Speaking at the ceremony, Head of the Vietnamese Women's Club, Ms. Tran Thi Chang, reviewed the struggle through history for equality and advancement of women.

With the desire of liberating women from social prejudices and gender inequalities, as well as the struggle for the advancement of women,  March 8th is considered an annual festival of women worldwide.

Particularly, in Vietnam, March 8th is also an occasion to mark the Hai Ba Trung uprising, two female national heroes, who led people to fight against the yoke of foreign invaders to regain the sovereignty of the nation.

Hai Ba Trung are considered the symbol of the indomitable heroic Vietnamese women, refusing to be slaves for foreigners.

Ms. Tran Thi Chang appreciated the contributions of Vietnamese women in Malaysia over the past time, especially those supporting each other to overcome difficulties, stabilize the life, support those in unlucky situations as well as activities toward the homeland.

At the event, many art items praising the role of women were performed and many women participated in a cooking contest./.
