Vietnamese community in Netherlands celebrates Lunar New Year of Pig 2019

A meeting was organized by the Vietnamese Embassy in the Netherlands for overseas Vietnamese in the country to celebrate the Lunar New Year of the Pig 2019 on January 27th.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to the Netherlands Ngo Thi Hoa reviewed the political, economic and social achievements of Vietnam in 2018. National defence, security are maintained. Foreign affairs and international integration reached positive results. Vietnam’s position and prestige continue to be improved.  Vietnam’s GDP growth rate reached 7.08%. It also welcomed 15 million international visitors.

In 2018, Vietnam and the Netherlands successfully marked 45 years of diplomatic relations. The Netherlands is the second largest trade partner of Vietnam in EU with the two-way trade revenue of nearly USD8 billion and it is the largest European investor with 304 investment projects in Vietnam with total registered capital of USD8.17 billion.

The official visit of National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan to the Netherlands last March continued to promote the bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

In 2019, the relations promise to reap more positive developments through the visit to Vietnam of Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte scheduled in April.

At the meeting, the ambassador expressed her pleasure before the achievements the overseas Vietnamese gained. She affirmed the overseas Vietnamese are an integral part of the Vietnamese people, a cooperation bridge between Vietnam and countries in the world. She hoped that the overseas Vietnamese community in the Netherlands continues to uphold the tradition of solidarity to make the country wealthy, have worthy position in the region and in the world and become an effective and long-lasting cooperation bridge between Vietnam and the Netherlands. 

The meeting was organized in an atmosphere of culture, music and cuisine imbued with national identity. This is also an opportunity for overseas Vietnamese to meet and exchange with each other./.
