This is the fifth course organized by Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Vietnamese Cultural Centre and Vietnamese Embassy in Laos, and Laos’ Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism.

Taking place over six months, the course uses standard documents on basic foreign language teaching of Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training. Teaching staff are Vietnamese educational experts. After the study period, the 32 trainees of the two classes are able to communicate in Vietnamese, have good skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. Ending the course, 14 trainees were given good certificates of graduation, and 18 were given certificates of graduation with above average standard.

Mr. Nguyen Gia Lam, Director of the Vietnamese Cultural Centre in Laos, said that the 32 trainees attending the course were staff from different agencies in Laos. They attended six sections per week. They experienced monthly exams to assess their ability to study. They all love Vietnamese, and have a good sense in their studies.

He also emphasized that the course was very meaningful because the staff of Laos’ Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism are in need of Vietnamese to work and exchange with Vietnamese partners, especially Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, to work in Laos.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Lu Xay, Deputy Head of the Department of Organization and Personnel under Laos’ Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, shared that this was the 5th class held by the ministry, with the aim of improving staff knowledge to strengthen the coordination and exchange of information between the two ministries, contributing to preserving and developing the friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries./.
