Vietnamese Embassy in Mongolia donates to support flood victims

The Vietnamese Embassy in Ulan Bator(Mongolia) on October 13th collected nearly VND50 million to support domestic flood victims.

At the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Mongolia Doan Thi Huong briefly described the impacts of natural calamities among domestic people from the early in the year to now, and the efforts of the Party, army and people in prevent and overcome these challenges.

She stressed that the damages caused by the natural calamities are extremely heavy: many houses were flooded and collapsed; many villages are isolated; people in storm-hit areas face many difficulties in food, clean water; students lack books and school supplies, and many people have lost family members.

Therefore, the ambassador suggested each official and staff member of the embassy should give at least two days of salary; calling upon businesses, individuals and the Vietnamese community in Mongolia to join hands to ease the losses of flood victims in the country.

Mr. Nguyen Huy Tuan, Head of the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Mongolia, extended his deepest condolences to people whose relatives were killed in the recent floods.

He affirmed that the Overseas Vietnamese community in Mongolia always looks toward the homeland. The Executive Board of the association will disseminate information about losses caused by natural calamities in the country in order to mobilize people to take the most practical actions to ease the damages and difficulties of people in flood areas.

Especially, the event was also participated in by the Mongolian Student Association in Vietnam.

“As people have studied and lived in Vietnam, the help and love of the country and people of Vietnam we have always remembered and regarded Vietnam as our second homeland. Thus, we want to contribute to help Vietnamese people to overcome losses. This is not only the sentiment, but also the obligation of Mongolian students in Vietnam. The Vietnamese people are very resilient and united, I believe that they will overcome these difficulties soon," said, Dr. G. Davkharbayar, Head of the Association.

The ambassador thanked the Overseas Vietnamese Community, Vietnamese Student Association in Mongolia, Mongolian Student Association in Vietnam, and promised to transfer the collected money to the victims as soon as possible. She hoped that, with the help of people inside and outside the country, the people in flooded areas will soon overcome difficulties to stabilize their lives.

In August, the Vietnamese Embassy in Mongolia also donated to support people in northern mountainous provinces severely affected by flash floods and landslides./.
