Vietnamese Embassy presents gifts to Vietnamese families after fire in Phnom Penh

The Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia on February 20th visited and presented gifts to 15 Vietnamese and Khmer households severely damaged by the fire which occurred on the early morning of February 15th in Samaky hamlet, Russey Keo ward, Russey Keo district, Phnom Penh.

The fire damaged three fourths of classrooms of Samaky-Tan Tien Primary School, managed by the Khmer-Vietnam Association, located next to the residential area.

The incident didn’t cause any deaths, but injured three people in the residential area due to smoke, including two children.

The victims have now recovered and been discharged from hospital. However, the study of more than 100 students of the Samaky - Tan Tien Primary School is still interrupted.

Mr. Lai Xuan Chien, a representative from the Vietnamese Embassy, affirmed that the embassy is trying to mobilize and find resources to soon repair and restore the operation of the Samaky – Tan Tien Primary School as soon as possible.

The school is one of four schools under the Tan Tien Vietnam-Khmer friendship primary school system of the community of Vietnamese origin./.
