Vietnamese identity honoured at community Tet in India

The Vietnamese Embassy in India solemnly organized a community Tet event to welcome the Lunar New Year of the Pig 2019 in the evening of January 27th.

All officials, staff, their spouses and students attending the event were in traditional long dress to contribute to preserving and honouring cultural values of Vietnam, as well as attracting the attention of international friends.

Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to India, Nepal and Bhutan Pham Sanh Chau affirmed that the embassy had made efforts to organize the community Tet for overseas Vietnamese so that they feel Tet atmosphere like in the homeland.

He desired the overseas Vietnamese in India to always look toward the homeland, abide by the local law and make efforts to promote their role as a bridge for Vietnam - India friendship in the coming time.

At the event, the participants enjoyed a special art program performed by Vietnamese staff, monks, students and soldiers in India as well as traditional Tet dishes of Vietnamese people.

In early January, on the occasion of presenting his letter of credence in Bhutan, Ambassador Chau met and conveyed Tet wishes to the Vietnamese community in the country. He desired the overseas Vietnamese there to be united, continue mutual support and positively promote Vietnam’s image to the local people./.
