Accordingly, French friends and overseas Vietnamese in France also made comments in favour of the PCA ruling.

Mr. Claude Blanchemaison, former French Ambassador to Vietnam, said that it needs to respect international law, respect freedom of navigation, air travel, and legal consequences of the ruling, which will become part of international law.

The Vietnamese community in France also expressed their support for the ruling of the PCA and said that China should respect international law as well as respect the ruling of the PCA.

Therefore, on July 21st, 24 Associations of the Vietnamese community and some friendship associations with Vietnam in France issued a declaration in favour of the PCA ruling.

"Unity is strength, when the Homeland Choir and many associations signed the Declaration, it hopes that many international agencies, embassies, international organizations can somehow make pressure for China to respect international law and respect the ruling," said Ms. Ngan Ha, an overseas Vietnamese in French, head of the Homeland Choir, which has participated in signing the Declaration.

She also said that the PCA ruling is "the first international ruling for sides related in the East Sea based on that to peacefully settle disputes; European and American countries also base on and support the PCA ruling. This is a favourable and positive factor, thereby there are grounds and legal basis for countries to solve the problem."

"The PCA ruling is not only meaningful with the Philippines in suing China about the East Sea issue, but it has a very important significance in the dispute among countries in the East Sea region with China such as Vietnam, Malaysia and Brunei,” said Mr. Viet Long, a graduate student in France.

“This ruling has confirmed the fairness of international law in resolving the dispute. The powers like the US, France, India or any other country can enhance patrols or strengthen density of their appearance in the East Sea," he added.

Mr. Quang Khai, an overseas Vietnamese in France, said that the ruling absolutely rejects China’s sovereignty claims to the "nine dash line" and claims of sovereignty over all the East Sea.

The ruling also positively contributes to changing the countenance of the sides. In addition to Vietnam, the Philippines, Taiwan (China), Malaysia, there are other countries like the US, Japan or the European Union which can positively and strongly participate in patrol, maritime cooperation, rescue and cooperation with other countries in the region. That's obviously beneficial to the countries./.
