Vietnamese women’s contributions praised in Cambodia

The General Association of Vietnamese Cambodians (GAVC) and the Overseas Vietnamese Women’s Union in Cambodia organized a meeting to honour the contributions of overseas Vietnamese women in the country on March 8th.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Chau Van Chi, Head of GAVC, highly appreciated the contributions of overseas Vietnamese women in Cambodia. They not only contribute to the development of family economy, and the preservation of traditional culture of the nation in the process of integration into the local life, but also contribute to strengthening and developing the friendship between the two countries.

Many poor overseas Vietnamese women, with their energy, strength, talent and intellect, they have become business owners, good workers and brought their families to be better off, actively contributing to movement activities of the overseas Vietnamese women and community activities of GAVC.

He affirmed that in 2017, GAVC will actively support the overseas Vietnamese union in Cambodia to successfully organize its congress, consolidate the organizational structure, gather a large number of overseas Vietnamese women in Cambodia; actively contact and coordinate with local Women's Unions in order to enhance exchanges, contributing to improving the lives of women and overseas Vietnamese families in Cambodia, preserving national cultural identities, as well as boosting friendly relations with Cambodia. 

At the meeting, the representatives of the Vietnamese Embassy, GAVC, agencies and enterprises in Cambodia presented flowers and performed art items to honour the contributions of the overseas Vietnamese women in Cambodia.

The oversea Vietnamese Women's Union in Cambodia was established in 2015, under the GAVC in Cambodia. 

The union is now a place for overseas Vietnamese women to meet, exchange to do business, take care of family, as well as social work activities.

In the coming time, the union will strengthen counselling and protect overseas Vietnamese women in stabilizing and improving their lives, and well integrating into the local society./.
