The Vietnam Rubber Plantation Association in Cambodia said that Vietnam's rubber companies in Cambodia have more than 20,000ha of rubber in Ratanakiri, Mondulkiri and Kratie provinces.

People working in rubber plantations receive a minimum wage of 800,000 KHR and those who collect latex may earn between 1 - 1.5 million KHR. Besides, workers are provided suitable accommodation and don’t have to pay living expenses such as electricity and water.

Earlier, at a meeting between the Cambodian and Vietnamese sides, Cambodia’s Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training proposed that the Vietnam Rubber Plantation Association in Cambodia coordinate with the National Employment Agency to strengthen dissemination and recruit local workers or unemployed labourers due to Covid-19 epidemic.

At the same time, the Association also considers more about special policies on wages, benefits, accommodation, schools, markets, and health services to attract workers.

Vietnam’s rubber plantations in Cambodia have created conditions for thousands of workers to work, ensuring adequate wages, accommodation and many other services./.
