This is the second time the festival has been held, showing the effort for cultural integration and connection among Vietnamese youth, who were born and raised in the Czech Republic.

Themed "Banana Festival", the festival didn’t introduce banana products, but simply symbolized the second and third generations of the Vietnamese people in the Czech Republic. They self-assert in the process of integration into the local society, but are always proud of their origin.

At the event, Czech people and international visitors living and working in the Czech Republic, not only learned about the history, cultural diversity, tourism potential, and culinary culture of Vietnam, but also experienced life skills performed by Vietnamese youth.

Since first being organized in 2016, the event attracted the participation of many groups and organizations set up by young Vietnamese people in the Czech Republic, with the desire of further introducing Vietnam’s image to local people as well as the growth and talent of the young Vietnamese generation there.

Nguyen Manh Tung, a member of VietUp, one of the groups of young Vietnamese people organizing the event, said that the festival aims to let Czech people know that Vietnamese people in the country have the second and third generations. They are not just Vietnamese who know Czech language or sell goods in stores, they also have their own activities.

Through the festival, the young people want to introduce Vietnamese culture, and the second generation, with the look of a new generation; civilized, educated and trained.

In the large space of about 1,000 square meters, the festival has many different topics to introduce to visitors, such as: history, culture, cuisine or saving people in accidents, repairing mechanics and common tools in the family, which always attract a large number of visitors to watch and practice.

The organizing board also arranged a private space for displaying Vietnamese conical hats and a playing area for Czech children. Additionally, presentations on Vietnam’s tourism potentials, establishment and development of the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic, or interesting sharing of a Czech journalist, who was lucky to meet President Ho Chi Minh.

Many cultural events have been held in the Czech Republic over the past time to promote Vietnam’s image, and the "Banana Festival" is one such activity. The event helped Czech people better understand Vietnam, and the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic, helping to erase the gap between Vietnamese and local people.

At the same time, it showed that the young generations of Vietnamese people who were born and raised in the Czech Republic are increasingly asserting themselves in the process of integration into local society, but not forgetting their origins./.
