Hanoi’s green sticky rice specialty

(CPV) – Over the past century, green sticky rice production in Me Tri village, Tu Liem district, Hanoi, has been preserved and developed. Earlier, it was only produced in autumn; however, it is now produced all year round, making it a specialty from the capital city.
Premature rice is the material for the specialty.

The best quality rice is chosen.

It is a painstaking work to produce the specialty.

Rice grains are harvested manually.

Only best quality grains are chosen.

They are roasted for about 1.5-2 hours.

Well cooked rice provides a unique aroma.

It is busy work from early morning to late evening.

After the husk is removed from the grains, they will be ground manually using mortars.

The remaining bran is still removed about 3 times.

Pliable and aromatic green rice in Me Tri makes it different from others.

It is sold at about VND180,000-250,000 per kilogram.

It makes a symbolic characteristic for Hanoi specialties, contributing to multiplying the cultural picture of the capital city.
