Hanoi traditional peach flower village prepares for Tet

Wednesday, 09/01/2019 17:04
As the lunar New Year festival approaches, traditional peach flower growers in Hanoi’s Nhat Tan village are busy caring for the flowers to bring them to the Tet market.
This is the busiest time for peach flower planters.

The flowers start to bloom.

Ms Thuy, who has 30 years of experience in growing peach flowers, says each day she has to hire up to 10 labourers for caring for and transporting peach flower trees.

Peach leaves are removed so the trees produce more new buds.

Mr. Son says his trees are mainly for hire and for customers to buy at the garden.

Mr. Dung cuts the branches….

… and shapes the trees.

Many big trees are booked.

Peach flowers have become a cultural symbol during Vietnamese traditional lunar New Year festival.
