The magazine published the results of its annual survey of readers’ travel experiences of cities visited in terms of landscape, vision, culture, cuisine, friendliness, shopping and common values.
Hoi An ranked third on the list, after two cities in Mexico: San Miguel De Allende and Oaxaca.
Hoi An, which was recognised as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999, is famous for its old quarter with traditional architecture dating back to between the 17th and 19th century, as well as its unique cuisine.
The ancient city was also listed among the world’s best cities in 2019 by Travel and Leisure magazine.
