Hung Yen province in longan harvesting season

This year’s longan season in Hung Yen province is estimated to yield 41,000 tons, an increase of 10,000 tons compared to last year.

The harvesting time has started in the land of longan, Hung Yen province. “Our family’s 250 longan trees planted in accordance with Vietnamese Good Agricultural Practices (VietGap) provide 8-11 tons of fruits,” said Nguyen Tien Hau in Hong Nam commune, Hung Yen city.
A majority of longan trees have good productivity.

Hung Yen province longan are plentiful in types.
Over 3 tons of longan fruits of Nguyen Van Cao’s family in Hong Nam commune were booked by local cooperatives at VND30,000-VND40,000 per kilogram. As a result, his family can earn some VND250 million from the fruits.

Favourable climate conditions help grow good quality longan.

Leaves and small branches are removed before transporting the fruit to the market or to the cooperatives as contracted.

Longans are brought to market for consumption.

Cooperatives help longan planters sell their products. They only have to transport them to the cooperatives’ collection locations.
Longan fruits are classified and priced.

Longan fruits are consumed across the country. China is the key export market of longan. In 2017, Vietnam exported USD190 million of longan to China, ranking 2nd among longan exporters, after Thailand.

In 2018, Hung Yen grew over 4,340 hectares of longan.
