In 2007, the terraced fields in these three communes were recognized as a national beautiful landscape by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

"Raspberry Hill" - a famous tourist destination of Mu Cang Chai

Mu Cang Chai is like a paradise of terraced fields connecting to the foot of the clouds.

Terraced field "Horseshoe Hill" is a favorite place for tourists. It is next to "Raspberry Hill".

The terrace fields attract many visitors

Quickly perceiving visitors' tastes, the people of Mu Cang Chai planted additional barley flowers beside the rice fields to embellish the scenery here.

Barley flowers flourish at Mu Cang Chai. Tam Giac Mach, literal meaning "triangle oat", is a tiny wild flower with triangular-shaped leaves with a pink colour.

Over the past years, authorities of Yen Bai province and Mu Cang Chai district have paid attention not only to tourism promotion but also ethnic cultural preservation.

The terraced fields area also attracts many foreign tourists thanks its distinctiveness. (Photos by Kim Cuong)
