Over the past days, gardeners in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong’s Da Lat city and surrounding areas are harvesting persimmon, which has become a specialty of the foggy land.

Persimmon season lasts from August to November each year. Earlier, persimmon was harvested for sale or for making jams or dried fruit. After the 1990s, the persimmon area has been expanded to thousands of hectares in Lam Dong province.

Persimmon is packaged for selling.

It often takes 6-7 years for a persimmon tree to produce fruits.

It takes time to harvest persimmon as the trees grow from 3-7 metres

Each day, a labourer can harvest 150-200 kilograms of persimmon…

… and earn some VND200,000.

Some fruits ripen on the trees and can be eaten immediately without being kept for several days.

Persimmon stalks are cut before persimmon is put into nylon bags for ripen.

Da Lat city’s persimmon is transported to markets, mainly to Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh city and Central provinces.

Dried persimmon, which is considered “high-ranking” product of Da Lat city, is sold at VND400,000-500,000 per kilogram
