Young volunteers in Laos

Around 120 young volunteers in Ho Chi Minh city carried out voluntary activities to help Lao residents from July 23rd-August 5th.

The activities mark the 55th anniversary of the Vietnam - Laos diplomatic relationship (September 5th) and 40th anniversary of the Vietnam-Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (July 18th), and show the role of Ho Chi Minh city youth in international voluntary work.

The activities, carried out in the 3 provinces of Champasak, Attapue and Xieng Khoang, included supporting the building of 2 houses; giving healthcare to 5,000 residents; giving agricultural and forestry technological training and transfer; presenting gifts, scholarships and computers to schools; giving cultural and spiritual support to Lao and overseas Vietnamese children; building an internal road at the Xieng Khoang provincial library and a playing yard; installing water taps and upgrading the power system at families; and giving presents to Vietnamese revolutionary contributors.
