Diverse sports activities welcome traditional day of mining sector (November 12)

(CPV) - Laborers in the mining sector are enjoying diverse sports activities to welcome the 78th anniversary of Traditional Day of mining sector (November 12, 1936 – November 12, 2014) and 20th anniversary of the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group -TKV (1994 - 2014).

This year, overcoming challenges in production and restructuring, in addition to art and culture exchange programs, the Group has so far successfully organized 10 sporting events including; badminton, table-tennis, Chinese chess, chess, movement and strong team volleyball (men’s and women’s), and movement and strong team football (men’s and women’s), attracting thousands of amateur athletes from almost all units competing from the qualifying round to final round, according to Mr Ngo Viet Hung, Vice head of the TKV Culture and Sports Department.

Subsidiaries companies also hosted sporting activities at the grass root levels.

In the Mao Khe Coal Company, as many as 102 competitors played in 69 games in the badminton tour to celebrate the 84th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam Women's Union (October 20); or 4 men’s teams had competed in the round robin-format volleyball event, seeing 6 exciting matches, and the winner was the joint-team between Mechanics, Office and Transport 1 to welcome 60th anniversary of the Company restoration and development (November 15, 1954 – November 15, 2014).

On this occasion, the Cua Ong Coal Selection Company hosted a men’s football event with 6 teams from divisions, departments and workshops, competing in two groups. The final match between the best two teams will take place on the evening of November 12.

One of the most attractive events during this time was the movement tennis tournament hosted in Ha Long city earlier this month. Some 130 male and female competitors from 17 divisions, departments and business units played 101 games over 3 days. The Nam Mau Coal Company won the cup, while the Hon Gai Coal Company and the Huu Nghi Mining Vocational Training College were the runner-ups.

These sporting activities have actively contributed to improve the laborer’s spiritual life as well as that of the local hosts, providing a healthy demonstration of mass movement in the sports life of Quang Ninh province in general./.
