Northern province calls for investment in 47 projects

The northern province of Quang Ninh called upon domestic and foreign enterprises to invest in 47 projects in the prioritized fields of transport, technical infrastructure for industrial zones and urban areas, tourism service, trade, agricultural production and hi-technology.

The Quang Ninh Investment Promotion Agency (IPA), in association with Southern Investment Promotion Centre, the Ministry of Planning and Investment’s Foreign Investment Agency, organized an investment promotion conference, themed “Quang Ninh - Potential and Investment Opportunities,” in Ho Chi Minh city on October 5th.

The conference aims to introduce the potential and strength of investment opportunities in Quang Ninh to southern enterprises.

At the conference, Mr. Truong Manh Hung, Deputy Head of IPA said that infrastructure, especially road transport and seaports in Quang Ninh were being updated and improved. In 2014, the province employed the world’s leading consultant firms such as McKinsey, BCG (the US), Nikken Sekkei and Nippon Koei (Japan) to join in forming and announcing seven strategic plans of Quang Ninh. 

He stressed that Quang Ninh would create a favorable and transparent climate for investors and pledged to support and give special treatment to projects in the prioritized fields.

Over the past two years, Quang Ninh was listed among the top five PCI (Provincial Competitiveness Index) performers. The locality is realizing a plan of assessing competitive capacity in departments and branches in order to continue to improve and intensify provincial competitive capacity.

By September 2015, foreign investors from 17 countries and territories poured capital into 104 projects in Quang Ninh with a total registered capital of nearly USD5.1 billion. Domestic capital in the locality amounted to nearly VND68 trillion between 2012 and 2014./.
