Quang Ninh and Hokkaido boost cooperation

Mr. Nguyen Van Thang attended and cut the ribbon to open the Vietnamese festival, which was first held in Sapporo city, Hokkaido prefecture.

This festival has nearly 20 stalls, introducing the foods, handicrafts and tourism potential of Vietnam. Coming to the festival, visitors had a chance to enjoy cuisine and culture, music and art performance programs imbued with the national identity of Vietnam.

The delegation met Mr. Naomichi Suziki and Mr. Tsuchiya, Governor and Deputy Governor of Hokkaido prefecture. At the meetings, the Chairman of the Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee exchanged on some fields with cooperation potentials such as training and education, tourism, economic development cooperation and environmental protection.   

In the field of education and training, the chairman desired to have highly qualified human resource training cooperation, especially cooperation with Ha Long University to train bachelors in Japanese language, creating highly qualified human resource for Quang Ninh in particular and Vietnam in general.

In terms of tourism, he mentioned the organization of round–trip flights from Van Don airport to Hokkaido, thus creating conditions to exploit the tourism potential of the two sides.

Mr. Thang emphasized that Quang Ninh province now has 11 economic and industrial zones with complete and synchronous infrastructure. It is the only province of the whole country to have 4 cities, with high economic growth during the past 15 years. In 2017 and 2018, the province maintained a national lead in the provincial competitiveness index (PCI). Therefore, he hoped that there would be more Japanese enterprises investing in economic and industrial zones in the province.

The Chairman thanked Japan in general and Hokkaido in particular for always cooperating with Quang Ninh in environmental protection and hoped to further promote this cooperation between the two sides in the coming time. Besides, he desired that Japanese experts would assist Quang Ninh in the fields of business and production of aquaculture and development of high-tech agriculture./.
