By the end of May 2020, the index of industrial production increased by 2.04% compared to April and by 5.62% over the same period last year; goods through ports reached 9.2 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 18%; and the total production of aquatic products was estimated at over 11,800 tons, a year-on-year increase of 5.4%.

The total collection to the State budget reached over VND20.3 trillion, accounting for 42% of the year’s target. 

The number of tourists to the province increased again, thanks to the disbursement of the VND200 billion tourism stimulation package adopted by the provincial People’s Council; businesses’ reduction of service prices; the introduction of new tourism products, including the Royal sailing ship serving Bai Tu Long bay and the 5-star Tuan Chau Express high-speed train to Co To island, and the high-class mineral spring Yoko Onsen Quang Hanh; activities to attract visitors to Ha Long; and the one commune-one product (OCOP) Quang Ninh  Fair.

In May, the number of tourists to Quang Ninh reached 346,000, including 331,000 domestic tourists, accounting for 96% of total visitors, bringing the total number of tourists in the first 5 months to over 1.84 million, gaining over VND3.422 trillion. The number of tourists is forecast to sharply increase in June, mainly domestic tourists.

At the regular meeting in May, Nguyen Van Thang, Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, affirmed that as Quang Ninh and the whole country moved into a new stage, the two leading tasks were well controlling COVID-19 and stabilizing socio-economic development to regain growth momentum./.
