“Innovate Like a Swede” contest boosts responsible production and consumption

(CPV) - The Embassy of Sweden in Hanoi on September 18th associated with Ministry of Education and Training and Ministry of Science and Technology to launch the contest “Innovate Like a Swede”.

The contest aims to encourage young people to introduce initiatives and innovative solutions to challenges on climate change and sustainable development. The move is also a response to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

It will be a yearly, re-occurring event which will allow participating students to find sustainable solutions to reach United Nations SDGs in the Vietnamese context.

This year, the event focuses on goal No 12 of responsible production and consumption, and it will inspire Vietnamese students to be innovative and find tangible solutions to reach this goal.

Candidates can form teams of two and submit their exams before November 11th, 2017. The winners will win a trip to Singapore to visit the offices and creative research centres of Swedish companies.

In his speech at the event, Mr. Pham Quang Hung, Deputy Head of Ministry of Education and Training’s International Cooperation Department, said the contest offers opportunities for Vietnamese youth to express scientific creativeness, confidence, flexibility and teamwork ability to research and build scientific subjects; creating a useful playground to gain experience for students at universities and colleges nationwide./.
