Four Vietnamese start-up projects enter Hult Prize Southeast Asia 2020

Four start-up projects in Vietnam’s Da Nang city have been listed among the 17 most excellent projects to the final Hult Prize Southeast Asia 2020, according to the Hult Prize Vietnam organizing committee.

The projects include the Biochar project by a group of students of the Da Nang University of Technology - Medicine and Pharmacy which turns organic waste into Biochar (organic fertilizer), BioFilter (breeding ground smell filter plates) and BioRefresh (mold proof); the Rebo project by a group of students from the Da Nang FPT University and the Economics College under the University of Da Nang on developing online classrooms and increasing the efficiency of traditional educational model; the Inno - 2ur project by students from the Economics College under the University of Da Nang providing assistance for people with psychological disorders; and the Micway project of a group of students from the University of Da Nang applying microbiological biotechnology to produce bio-products to treat the smell of poultry waste and prevent disease in livestock.

The Hult Prize, an annual social career award for students around the world, is sponsored by the United Nations and former US President Bill Clinton. With the theme, “Building startups that have a positive impact on our planet with every dollar earned”, Hult Prize Southeast Asia this year will be held in Ho Chi Minh city from April 9th-14th in which the 2 most excellent projects will be chosen for the global competition.

Known as “Nobel Prize for students, the prize is also set for masters, doctors and former students all over the world. It is a playground as a platform for application of creative ideas in social start-ups, helping solve community problems. Students with the best social business models will be awarded up to USD1 million./.
