Being busy, President Ho Chi Minh could not attend the conference and sent a letter to the event. The 368-word letter included the President’s directions and suggestions. Its content was printed in Nhan Dan Newspaper on the same day.

President Ho Chi Minh also recommended medical personnel to be honest and unite with one another, love patients and strive for the national medical sector’s development.

With the profound significance of the letter, the Council of Ministers (now the Government) on February 6th, 1985 issued a decision to take February 27th as the Vietnamese Doctors’ Day.

Over the past 63 years, Uncle Ho's teachings have remained a valuable guide for the health sector, especially during the implementation of Resolution 20-NQ/TW on enhancing protection, care and improvement of people's health and Resolution 21-NQ/TW on population work in the new situation./.
