The 368-word letter included the President’s directions and suggestions. Its content was printed in Nhan Dan Newspaper on the same day.
President Ho Chi Minh also recommended medical personnel to be honest and unite with one another, love patients and strive for the national medical sector’s development.
With the profound significance of the letter, the Council of Ministers (now the Government) on February 6th, 1985 issued a decision to take February 27th as the Vietnamese Doctors’ Day.
