Healthcare workers on duty 24 hours over Tet

Luong Ngoc Khue, head of the Department of Examination and Treatment under the Ministry of Health, said that over Tet all medical units must have cadres on duty 24 hours and offer a public hotline.

Tet is a time medical workers get busy because the number of patients may increase due to traffic accidents. Moreover, hospital managers make plans for normal examination and treatment mission and visiting inpatients during these special days.

Medical workers of Viet-Duc Hospital in Hanoi usually experience crowds as many patients are rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment due to traffic accidents. All doctors and nurses are mobilized.

To ensure the treatment mission during the holidays, managers have arranged schedules to assign people on duty in wards. Besides, the hospital also maintains an emergency team who are ready to help their counterparts in districts or rural areas. Managers will visit inpatients who must stay in the hospital.

On the occasion of Tet, Bach Mai Hospital will give gifts to inpatients, who will be served meals free-of-charge in the first three days of the year.

Mr. Khue also said that the Ministry of Health will conduct sudden inspections on emergency services at several hospitals.

The Ministry also asked hospitals to be active to cope with epidemic diseases such as flu, mumps, acute diarrhoea, hand-foot-mouth and petechial fever./.
