Ministry of Information and Communications reported that total information & technology industry’s turnover reached around USD31.34 billion in the first six months of the year, increased 15 percent compared to the same period of last year.

Of which, the hardware industry accounted for over 91 percent.
At that time, the export turnover of electronic items, computers and components reached USD7.59 billion, an increase of 12.36 percent compared to the same period of 2016.
And, total accrued turnover of communications sector was VND213.4 trillion, equivalent to 47.41 percent of this year’s target.
Statistics showed that the military telecom group Viettel had the highest revenue of VND 117.7 trillion, earned VND21.5 trillion of profit, and contributed nearly VND20 trillion to the State Budget.
Next, Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) reported a total revenue of VND68 trillion, equivalent to 106 percent in comparison with the same period of last year.
The telecommunications group earned nearly VND3 trillion of profit.
MobiFone also announced its revenue for the first six months of the year was VND21.3 trillion, up to 18.7 percent over the same period of 2016.
It earned VND2.6 trillion of profit and contributed VND2.7 trillion to the State budget.
Ministry of Information and Communications reported that there were around 68.8 million of 2G and 54.2 million of 3G subscribers by the end of June, 2017.
Fixed phones have been continuously decreasing with 7.3 million of subscribers.
The total mobile and fixed phones have reached over 130 million of subscribers; and the cord broadband Internet subscribers have been increasing with more than 10.11 million./.
