Minister of Education and Training commends Vietnamese delegations at international Olympiads

Phung Xuan Nha, Minister of Education and Training, on July 23rd sent a letter of commendations to Vietnamese delegations at international Olympiads in 2017.

In the letter, he said he was glad when receiving results of Vietnamese delegations participating in the International Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry Olympiads 2017. On behalf of the Ministry of Education and Training, he congratulated the students who won noble medals, bringing fame to Vietnamese intelligence in the regional and international arena. He also congratulated and thanked teachers and parents who have taken care of the students.

At the 58th International Mathematical Olympiad 2017, the Vietnamese maths team including six members put on an excellent performance to bring home four gold, one silver and one bronze medals. With the final result, Vietnam was ranked the third position among 112 countries and territories worldwide, after Republic of Korea and China.

At the 49th International Chemistry Olympiad 2017, Vietnamese students won three gold and one silver medals. This is the highest achievement Vietnam has obtained at an International Chemistry Olympiad. The event drew the participation of 297 students from 49 countries and territories. The US ranked first with four gold medals. Vietnam and China tied for second with three golds and one silver.

At the 48th International Physics Olympiad 2017, Vietnamese students won four gold medals and one silver medal. Vietnam was ranked the fifth position among 86 countries and territories worldwide at the event.

Ministry of Education and Training plans to welcome Vietnamese teams as they return home at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi on July 24th and 25th./.
