Prizes for all six Vietnamese students at int’l science olympiad

All six Vietnamese students have won prizes, including two gold medals, at the 13th International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO), held in Bali, Indonesia.

The Vietnamese delegation, led by Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Le Ngoc Quang, engaged in chemistry, physics and biology tests.

The gold medals went to Nguyen Ngoc Duc and Phan Minh Duc from the Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted. Two other students from this school, Nguyen Nga Nhi and Pham Quoc Khanh, secured silver medals.

Meanwhile, Phan Ha Linh from the Hanoi-Amsterdam school and Dang Nguyen Tien Dat from the Nguyen Hue High School for the Gifted obtained bronze medals.

Vietnam ranks sixth in terms of the gold medal number. China’s Taiwan is in the first place, followed by India and Russia.

The Olympiad from December 3rd-10th attracted 276 students from 48 countries and territories. It presented 28 gold medals, 59 silver medals and 80 bronze medals. One gold medal and two silver medals were given to the best teams in the practice test.

The IJSO is an annual competition for 15-year-old students. The 14th event will take place in the Netherlands in 2017./.
