Strengthening international cooperation on environmental protection for sustainable development

A seminar on strengthening international cooperation between Civil Society Organizations and Partners in environmental protection for sustainable development has taken place in Hanoi on September 12th.

The event drew the participation of 200 representatives from party and state agencies, development partners, international organizations, social organizations, under Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA), experts and scientists.

Participants listened to presentations by prominent organizations such as the Vietnam Rivers Network (VRN), the Green Innovation and Development Center (Green ID) and Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment (VACNE). Presentations focused on the risk of degradation and exhaustion of river water resources; the impact of coal-fired thermal power on the air and human health; the role and results of consultancy activities and policy responses related to environmental protection; the environment in Vietnamese craft village - challenges and solutions; and creating a favorable legal environment for the reception, management and use of foreign non-governmental aids.

In addition, the discussions focused on the intervention and policy advocacy that social organizations have been working on in health and environment in order to identify new challenges and opportunities, and propose solutions.

On this occasion, the Vietnam Water and Health Alliance was launched with the mission "For clean water for all and for the health of the community."/.
